Western White Spruce

Western White Spruce (Picea glauca) and Engelmann Spruce (Picea engelmannii) are found at high elevations. These two species cannot be differentiated visually. All of British Columbian Spruce species (including Sitka Spruce) account for 22% of the province’s total forest inventory. White Spruce makes up the largest portion of the growing stock.

Benefits of using Western White Spruce:

  • Most popular use is for mouldings and trim in traditional construction
  • Excellent for machinists to shape into mouldings and panelling
  • Fine, straight grain
  • Pale color makes for excellent finishing uses
  • Interior use
