Western White Birch Lumber

Western White Birch Lumber Supplier for Canada – BC – Vancouver

Western White Birch (Betula papyrifera) is one of only two Birches found in British Columbia. Its range extends from Saskatchewan to the Pacific Coast.

Western White Birch is usually creamy white, but a central brownish (which we call natural or red heart) core is often present. Natural Colour or Red Heart is often sought after for it's "character colour range". The growth ring pattern is faint, the texture is fine and uniform. It is moderate in weight, strength and hardness and not decay resistant.

When placed in the kiln Birch dries satisfactorily with fairly high shrinkage but little degradation. This species of wood machines well with good nail holding and screw holding abilities as well as surfacing to a smooth finish.
